PTSD symptoms & memories
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder as the name implies may be the result of disturbing or stressful events or experiences in a person’s early or recent past.
Most people experience highs and lows of one kind or another throughout their life. Some people may have experienced more trauma than others as a result of events or incidents in their life such as an accident, physical, emotional, mental or sexual abuse, loss of a family member or loved one, dysfunctional relationships, a relationship break-up, or a physical attack or near-death experience.
The National Institute of Mental Health reports that an estimated 3.6% of U.S. adults had PTSD in the past year. Approximately 6.8% of all adults will experience this condition at some point in their lives (1).
A person with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder may experience stress, anxiety and panic when the initial trauma is triggered by a more recent event.

A person suffering with PTSD
A person suffering with PTSD may have difficulty sleeping, working, concentrating or carrying out normal everyday activities or chores. These people often relive memories of their traumatic experience over and over again in their head.
It is understood that the hippocampus, an integral part of the limbic system in the brain, is where memories are processed, particularly those related to incidents involving trauma.
PTSD symptoms can at times be severe and lead to feelings of guilt, isolation, sadness, stress, anxiety and panic. These feelings can be the reaction if there is long-term illness, or there has been loss of life as a result of the incident that happened.
A traumatic event can affect anyone at any age. Unfortunately, children do not have the knowledge or experience to process what has happened, so their experience may have a long-term effect on their health and well-being.
As an adult we may have the tools, facilities and opportunities to process Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, but again, some people reach a place where they feel helpless, hopeless and trapped and really don’t know what their problem is related to. It is sometimes a physical injury, sickness or disease that will be the catalyst for the person to attend a medical practitioner for a diagnosis. It may only be at this point that PTSB is also diagnosed.

The pond in this story is symbolic of your life
To start your journey, imagine a very dark, deep and murky pond. This pond is symbolic of your life. This could be your life as it has been up until now. It includes all the pain and the hurts and unresolved emotional issues that you have experienced.
You may need help to process and heal from whatever trauma that is still controlling and affecting you.
At this moment in time, you may feel that something is holding you back. You may feel disconnected from real life at the moment. It may look as if there has been very little light in this pond of life for many years. It may look and feel that life has very little meaning or purpose for you at the moment.
Buried deep within this pond of hurt and pain lies an amazing solid gold nugget. This is the real you, the perfect you, the great soul you really are. You may not be able to see a way out at the moment. You may feel fearful at the challenge facing you to reconnect with your core being that may have been suppressed and buried for so long.
Energy therapy has been known to decrease levels of PTSD and allow the person’s true self to surface.

When PTSD has been diagnosed
In deciding what to do next, you have many options to choose from including mainstream medical treatment and counselling. You can also avail of complementary therapy such as energy therapy. Bio energy healing therapy can be applied for PTSD to help decrease the intensity of any unresolved issues around the initial trauma.
Energy therapy when applied has been likened to peeling the skins of an onion, it peels away the layers, until the core has been reached. The core you, the real you that is still as perfect as the day it was buried in the pond of life.
Bio energy therapy is at times likened to ‘clearing away cobwebs’ at an energy level that may be causing you to feel trapped.
Bio Energy Therapy has been used effectively at our healing centre, to help decrease the intensity of post-traumatic stress disorder, pain, unresolved emotional issues and trauma.
